Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), and foreign nationals are eligible to apply.

Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. The maximum age limit for General category candidates is 25 years, and for SC/ST/OBC category candidates, it is 30 years.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as mandatory subjects. Candidates must have scored at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC category candidates) in the qualifying examination.   It is always best idea to get updated by searching google or official websites.

Reservation Criteria

Scheduled Caste (SC): 15% of the total seats are reserved for SC candidates.

Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for ST candidates.

Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer: 27% of the total seats are reserved for OBC candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer.

Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% of the total seats are reserved for EWS candidates.

Reservation policy

The reservation criteria are applicable to all government medical and dental colleges, as well as private medical and dental colleges that receive government funding.

The seats that are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates are filled by the respective category candidates based on their merit rank in the NEET exam.

Candidates who belong to the SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories are required to provide relevant documents to prove their category at the time of NEET registration and counselling.

Registration and Application

The application process steps:

Registration: Candidates need to register on the official website of NTA by providing their basic details such as name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, etc.

Filling the Application Form: After registration, candidates need to fill the application form with their personal, educational, and contact details. They also need to upload their scanned photograph, signature, and other required documents.

Application Fee Payment: Candidates need to pay the application fee online using a debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI. The application fee varies for different categories.

Submission of Application Form: After filling in all the details and completing the fee payment, candidates need to submit their application form online.

Printout of Application Form: Candidates are advised to take a printout of the filled application form for future reference.

Number of Questions: The exam consists of 180 questions.

Marking Scheme: Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
